Motto Monday - Quit your jibber jabber
Turns out that Mothers Day was lovely, I got so many cute handmade cards and declarations of love, plus a box of chocolates, that I totally unwound and (falsely) imagined that at last my day off had arrived. Of course, Monday arrived and I got downstairs to the kitchen to gaze upon the unmitigated carnage of one roast dinner and a lot of breakfasts with out any washing up. Hence the above message to self for my hastily reignited Motto Monday. Bleurg. You can get this from Tee and Toast at Folksy

Motto Monday - It will be alright...
Earlier today, because I was CUI (cutting under the influence) I sheared off the top of my little finger with a big old rotary cutter. Now I am pretty much unable to do any of the 100 crafting jobs I need to do today because I have a bleedy sore bandaged pinkie. And I only have half a nail! My.Own.Fault. So here's a motto to salve my anxiety..!

Motto Monday - Washing in the Rain
Look at this completely charming brooch from Natalie Hayes on Folksy. And to say that it sums up my rather haphazard approach to housewifery hardly needs adding!? As I am not particularly partial to the strong smell of detergent on my linens I think I like it better when they have a garden-y tang about them! (I hope I don't get any comments now saying 'That's because you're a slattern'). Anyway, once we come into the spring proper now there is a good chance that the laundry is safe from the worst side effect of being out all night: I will not have to smash any frozen socks against the washing pole to get them folded for a good few months, I imagine.
Happy Monday xx

Monday is Motto Day again already! On Mothers. . . .
Well I can't believe that I haven't posted since last Monday! Shocking. Most of this week I have been entertaining my lovely Mother. Who I miss when she is not here. But I am glad that she has gone! I think that two lionesses in a lair are a at least one too many. Kisses Mumxx

Monday is Motto Day
I has been a lovely sunny weekend and I must remember to count my blessings and enjoy the children because they will not be little for all that long - but they will always make me happy when skies are grey.

Motto Monday - translation exercise
Because it was St Davids Day last week, here's a little bit of Welsh for you to admire and puzzle over!

Monday is Motto Day
Maybe this week I feel like a motto which encourages and uplifts - and reminds us to just be who we are, not what we think other people think we should be. Whatever it is you need to do this week - go for it!

Motto Monday - Too many books?
Not so much a motto as a wry quote this week, from the fantastic Bookity. I was sent the 'BBC book list' recently (although where this list originates from, if not the BBC seems to be a matter of blogger debate!) and I was pleased to discover that I had read many of the list of classics. Until I found out that no-one I knew had read as many as me, then I just felt like a swot. Wooo there was an unwelcome feeling of nostalgia.Of course, my diet of classic literature was heavy during my school days because I was at home a lot (make of that what you will) and as I have no time at all now even for finishing a magazine, I guess that over time it will even out. Also, teenagers be warned - a lot of Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte at a young age does give you, ahem, unrealistic romantic expectations! Because if there's one thing a 16 year old boy ISN'T, it's Mr Darcy!

Monday is Motto Day
Awesome Motto for this week - which hopefully will be less busy than last week, but if not, do take a little time to sit and sup, and ponder this very British truth. xxx

Monday is Motto Day
Todays motto is chosen to remind myself that I must get on and do things instead of wasting it! Beautiful ceramic magnets made by Bev Jennings of Bread and Butter
Spent most of the weekend 'teaching' my daughter to play Mario Party on the old Game Cube that my husband had discovered in one of our older unpacked house move boxes. So wrong, on so many levels. But she can now wield a control pad like a pro which in this day and age probably counts as a life skill.
What I should have been doing was: cleaning the house to welcome arrival of mother next week, starting to rescale that blouse pattern I was talking about last week, uploading some knitting patterns I intend to sell, finishing the cardigan for my friends baby that's been 4 months in the project bag, buying a walking foot for my sewing machine, making chutney and plum jam to address the fruit mountain, remounting a picture for the nursery, blah blah blah. Sigh. Time does indeed fly!

Motto Monday has gone all vintage
A slightly different motto day today as I wanted to show off my pattern books that I got at Vintage at Goodwood. Hooray, two Vogue knitting books from the 1950's and a blouse pattern which I had to buy even though it's size 18.
I love the weird logic here, because as all women know, angora is like catnip to men?!?!! I would worry if my husband only loved me because he liked to stroke my........ hold on....(thinks) Maybe there's something in it after all.
This lovely and completely enlightened yarn advert is from Vogue Knit 100, which is completely gorgeous and full of must-knit items but is a bit falling apart, so it only cost me £2. A bargain, surely. Hmmm, it won't upload, so here's a picture.

Motto Monday
Following on from last weeks food theme, and partly because I do cook a lot of Nigella recipes.............. this weeks offering is a bit of kitchen art from Miso Funky. The answer, of course is, add more butter!
And a big up to one of my favourite people and Folksy sellers AmyOrange Juice for including me in her Showcase Sunday.
