Folksy Friday - Penguinos

I have not done a Folksy Friday for quite a while, but there are so many CUTE things that keep catching my eye and I thought that I would share some. After all, 'tis the season to be spending money (as I believe the saying goes). This week is black and white and sweet all over! But sure, 'tis no Humbug.

Folksy Friday - Babbits

Everytime I look out of my window at the moment it seems there is a happy bunny family out there eating all my sprouting plants. This puts me in a dilemma as I dearly love those little baby rabbits, but I also want a half decent garden that is not 100% nibbled. Sigh. I have just banged on the window to startle them off, and will have to content myself looking at some Folksy rabbits instead.

Folksy Friday - The Good Life!

Inspiration strikes this week in the form of a homage to one of my all time favourite TV shows The Good Life. Spent most of this week making a dress from a 1970's pattern, to wear to a fancy dress party this weekend. Pictures of this will follow and will merit a post on Sew Retro I think, as I have been rather quiet on the dress making front. Until this week! Once I have hemmed the purple "Margot's Nightdress" (as I have dubbed it) I have to start on a makeshift Flamenco dress for European Week. Sew Sew Sew!!! But first a little light hearted moment.

To get the Good Life you will need:
Goat's Milk - Oakwood Soaperie
Vegetables to spare - Kate Broughton
A love of Handmade - Mark Smalley
A Margot Apron (of course) - Audreys Cat
Chicken in the Yard - Kettle of Fish
Green Fingers! - Galavant
And a big dollop of  LOVE, 1970s style - Kirsty Griffin

Folksy Friday - Patchwork Pieces

As I am still flush with the success of finishing a quilt in time for the actual birthday of it's actual intended recipient (miracolo) I thought I would create a Folksy Friday around this time-consuming, potentially thrifty and always fascinating textile art form.

And if you haven't had quite enough of quilts, here is a peek at the one I made, now gracing a cosy little bed. I took this photo before I had sewed the backing on properly, if you are wondering why it's so untidy at the edges. Meh. I still get that warm smug feeling everytime I see it. Those tumbling blocks are HAND STITCHED I will have you know, every one paper pieced by moi. Won't be doing that again in a hurry!
