Holiday Make and Mend

What do you do with uncomfortably short jogging bottoms?.... Snip snip. Mmmmm, comfy play shorts.

What do you do with attractive dress that PING only has one viable strap. Mmmm schmexy new halterneck. Only I can't show you a picture of that because my camera has died a bit today.

Thrifty, non?

Maybe I'll get a nice picture of the dress after my holiday........... You lucky people.

Patchwork Recycled!

Not long ago, during my clear out before the move, I found an old half (quarter) finished Grandmothers Garden quilt that has been waiting for some love since ..... forever. As I had lost the template I used originally to make its teeny weeny pieces, and indeed, I have two better quilts waiting to be finished, I decided to reassign the blocks to a new life. Keyrings! So what did I do? After carefully unpicking the sewn up blocks, I have put some back to back and padded them to make cute flower motifs with a tag on. I was so keen on them that I even put some in my folksy shop. There are LOADS waiting to be finished, in a variety of colours, and I might make a few bigger chunks into pin puffs. Really pleased to recycle a failed project I would otherwise never have finished.

Make and Mend Update 1

Make and Mend Month #3 "Repair/Mend 3 things from your 'fix' pile"

These past evenings I have spent some happy moments with my sewing basket and now have that sense of achievement gained from doing a long overdue job!

I fixed:
a) husbands applique bird shirt that had bits hanging off it
b) my favourite Yumi tee that needed the neck edge re-attaching
c) the babies dress that was missing some buttons.

Yay!

Cute Skirt

Just looking out some good patterns to use as I try to nobly 'reassign' stashed fabrics and worn out clothes. I found this super cute 'Market Skirt' Pattern at Made, which I reckon could be a great way of using (nb to self, say 'upcycling') some old clothes I have knocking around. The pockets also call for some new funky buttons, from the Swap, of course - Will keep you posted. Now children are in bed I have to go eat my choccie buttons (see previous post!)

Make do and Mend

In these times of belt-tightening, inspiration can be found! I will be joining New Vintage Lady on her Make Do and Mend Sew-Along this month.

First up, some using of exisiting fabrics by busting my stash of scraps. The fish I posted about yesterday will go some way to unbulging the bag, and then next week, I'm hosting the playgroup craft table. Visions of small children, glue, and a hundred bits of cut up fabric are dancing in my head.....

After that, a real make. For someone else? Or for me? (Rubs hands in glee)
